Description:
Temperature, humidity, pressure and gas sensor – BME688 – SPI / I2C – STEMMA QT / Qwiic – Adafruit 5046
Multifunctional sensor combining sensors for temperature, humidity, pressure and VOC gas measurement. It has an integrated BME688 chip from Bosch. Manufactured by Adafruit, it uses SPI and I2C buses to communicate with the main module. It works with controllers such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi.
The BME688 sensor has a small MOX sensor built in. The heated metal oxide changes resistance based on volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that are in the air, so it can detect gases and alcohols such as ethanol, alcohol, and carbon monoxide. It can also be used to perform air purity measurements.
Pinout Description
Multifunction sensor module has soldering fields, to which you should solder included gold pin strip (pinout is 2,54 mm). On the board there are also STEMMA QT / Qwiic connectors which are more convenient alternative to connect the sensor with the controller. You should connect the leads according to the relation below:
- VIN – power supply pin from 3V to 5.5V
- 3Vo – power supply pin 3.3 V
- GND – system ground
- SCK / SDO / SDI – logic pins of SPI / I2C communication interface
- SCK – communication interface clock line
- SDI – communication interface data line
- CS – Chip Select pin
